Seller Costs In FSBO Versus Using A Realtor? | REALTOR.com ...

questions

Q: My husband and I are looking into our options. What are the differences in costs using a Realtor vs. For sale by owner? We are interested in making a decision very quickly. Thanks!
?Anne, Bedford, TX

A: This is a simple one. The only additional cost you will have using an agent is their fee. Some may charge a percentage of the sales price, some may charge a flat fee, and others may charge a percentage plus a flat fee. It is always a good idea to get the fee information up front. A good agent is worth far more than the fee they charge. Keep in mind only about 10% of FSBO are successful in selling their home. Most of those actually already knew the buyer, ie sold it to a family member or friend. It may seem like you are going to save a lot of money selling yourself, but you probably won?t sell at all.
